What is WCU?
WCU aim to be your favorite Ultimate Frisbee tournament.
Some core values for WCU has been:
- Top level ultimate, a tournament the best teams in Europe has to go to to play awesome opponents.
- A tournament structure with even matches, but where teams with a low seeding has a chance of winning anyway.
- Plenty of service and officials and nursing and good facilities so the teams can focus on playing serious Ultimate and to that well.
- Fun, innovation, great parties.
- Small profit for the organizing teams – this and the Danish prices makes it an expensive tournament, but hopefully it’s worth the price.
The primary asset of WCU is the reputation and expectation of this among the teams in Europe. It has also been important that the tournament shouldn’t be a tradition repeating itself every year. WCU has room for innovation and new ideas. But WCU has become a tradition, successfully repeating itself.
WCU is usually in Storebededags weekend, a Danish holiday 4th friday after easter. It is very convenient that staff has the first day off, but it means that WCU seems to happen at a random date which might collide with other tournamens with a fixed date and it might be very early in spring.
